Auto Maintenance: Choosing One Repair Shop

One of the things I learned from my dad is that it pays to find a good auto repair shop and stick with it. True enough, I have tried using more than one shop, based on what I needed done to my car. Every time, I found myself going back to one shop that knew my car and the car's history. I had found that shop not too long ago. They had offered help with everything from rebuilding engines to dent repair. The shop is located near my home, and they keep records that went back for years. Thanks to the long history, they always knew what to do when something was not working as it should. If you think that finding one shop to meet all your needs is a good idea, let me help. With a little effort, you'll know exactly where to take your vehicle any time it needs some work.

Mistakes To Avoid When RVing With Your Dog

by Noelle Snyder

RVing with your canine companion should be a lot of fun, but it can be ruined if you make certain mistakes that compromise the comfort and health of both you and your pet.

Experienced RVers know that enjoyable RVing depends upon careful planning and researching. Put the time into avoiding the following five mistakes so that you can explore the country problem-free with your favorite four-legged friend.

Not making a list of your dog's supplies

You're probably making a list before stocking up on supplies for yourself before a long road trip. You should be doing the same for your dog.

Make sure you're thinking of everything when compiling a list: food, entertainment, medications, supplements, cleanliness supplies, apparel for cold weather, and more. It might be hard to find certain important supplies when you're out on the road- especially medicines- so plan ahead with a well thought out list.

Not looking in to vaccination needs before hitting the road

It's easy to get carried away when you're planning for a trip and neglect such occasional needs like pet vaccinations. However, you'll be very stressed out while traveling if you realize that your dog is behind on an important vaccine while you're in unfamiliar and unpredictable areas.

Before you leave for your trip, make sure you bring up the issue of vaccination needs with your vet at your dog's next check-up.

Not securing your pet while traveling

It's easy to neglect securing your pet while driving because your RV eventually begins to feel like your home. However, a moving RV makes seat belts for people highly advisable and a legal requirement in some states, so it should also require seat belts for pets.

Make sure your RV is equipped with a seatbelt or harness set up for your pet for peace of mind as you travel.

Not checking to make sure your dog's tags are updated

If your dog becomes lost while you're traveling and the phone number on his or her tags isn't up-to-date, your chances of relocating your precious pet are very small indeed.

Take a brief moment to ensure that the information on your dog's tags is up-to-date before leaving home.

Neglecting campground and park rules

Most campgrounds and national parks have strict rules about handling pets on the grounds that are taken seriously. Neglect these rules and regulations and you could wind up with a hefty fine.

Campground and park rules cover a wide variety of topics including where a pet can do its business and where you can hike with your pet. Take some time to research rules before you enter the premises to avoid inconvenient violations.
